1909 Laps for the Maisha Mazuri Children’s Centre in Kenya

This was achieved by 137 students from Gaimersheim High School on July 11, 2024, during their 10th traditional charity run, raising an impressive donation sum of almost 6,000 Euros. The distance they collectively covered in one hour is as long as the distance between Munich and Flensburg – that’s once lengthwise through Germany! Mrs. Strassburg, along with the student representatives and successful runners, presented the symbolic donation check of almost 6,000 Euros to Mrs. Maria Riegg, an employee of the “Hand in Hand for Kenya” association.

However, the students from Gaimersheim were not the only ones who financially supported our association in this athletic way.

In addition to Gaimersheim High School, this year the school communities of Gotzinger Platz Elementary School in Munich supported us again with a magnificent almost 7,400 Euros, as well as Baar-Ebenhausen Elementary School with around 500 Euros and Max Planck High School with around 700 Euros. Theresien High School in Munich also contributed a high four-figure sum again this year!

This year, over 300 students from Franz Marc High School in Markt Schwaben ran over 10,000 stadium laps! with a sensational donation value of almost 14,500 Euros, closely followed by Thomas Mann High School in Munich with an equally impressive almost 13,000 Euros.

Although the charity runs are, of course, less about “peak athletic performance” and more about “making a difference together,” all participants deserve the greatest respect for their athletic achievement. Thanks to your athletic, organizational, and, above all, social commitment, our association can look forward with confidence to the end of the year and even implement one or two small outstanding projects, such as furniture for boarding school rooms, upgrading the school library, or a 2-week holiday program at the school.

For this, we would like to sincerely thank all sponsors who were very generous again this year, making such extremely gratifying sums possible. A heartfelt thank you also goes, of course, to the athletic students, as well as the school administrations, teachers, and all organizers and helpers. Without your dedication and commitment, such events would not be possible, and projects like ours would be hardly feasible.

Asante Sana
