Maisha Mazuri Bakery

Maisha Mazuri Bakery

… the best place to be …

The best place to be – almost everyone agrees, including students of the Maisha Mazuri Academy who help here and simultaneously gain practical skills for their main subject, home economics. But teachers also like to meet here to lend a hand or at least to buy the fresh goods. The children of the Maisha Mazuri Center eagerly await the holidays when they are allowed to help in the bakery, and the German volunteers also enthusiastically help out and even inspire with German recipes.

Not to mention the long line of customers when the sales window opens.

The bakery’s goal is to provide students in the home economics branch with extensive practical work experience, combined with the business skills needed should they later decide to start their own small business (a very common income model in Kenya). So, bakers, the home economics teacher, and controllers work closely together here.

In addition to teaching home economics skills and business competencies, the bakery also has the important goal of generating additional income for the Secondary School to support its long-term self-financing.
