Holiday Program at MCC

The big year-end holidays in Kenya began on October 17th, and only the graduating classes still have to go to school for another two to three weeks for their final exams. The rest of our MCC children are enjoying being able to wake up a little later and spending lots of time with sports, fun, and games.

Of course, daily help with cleaning and laundry, in the kitchen, and caring for the animals is also part of life at MCC. The children take turns helping out on the farm in their groups: the achievers, the simbas, the shining stars, the ulinzi team, and the tigers. The children are very proud of their group affiliation and their self-chosen names. Due to the very high heat, the groups go to the shamba early in the morning, and while helping, they also learn a lot about organic farming and fertilizing, efficient watering, etc. — knowledge they take with them for their home shamba, i.e., the family’s own field.
