Maisha Mazuri Children Centre
Initially started with nine children, the Maisha Mazuri Children Centre (MCC) today counts 39 children who come from the slums of Nairobi, from the small town of Tala, or from Makueni County, or are simply orphans from the region. The children are between five and thirteen years old, often pairs of siblings, some developmentally delayed due to their circumstances, others with health impairments, many traumatized by abuse or neglect, but all with a big, infectious laugh and a wonderful enthusiasm when they are allowed to be children again in an environment where they are wanted and lovingly cared for.
In addition, the house mother (Matron) and the house father (Patron), a cook, and the German volunteers live with the children at the MCC. During the day, a gardener, an assistant for the animals and the entire grounds, as well as a driver complete the team, and the MCC as well as the partner program MMP are managed by two social workers.
