Ariette, the deputy head of the Academy of Maisha Mazuri (AMM), and Joseph, project manager and social worker at the MCC, were in Germany visiting sponsors and schools. They told the students about life and especially the school system in Kenya, which differs greatly from the German system with its strong focus on boarding schools. They also reported on the effects of climate change in Kenya and how they experience it directly at AMM and MCC.

Of course, Ariette and Joseph also came to Gaimersheim and were able to give a first-hand report on the current status at AMM and MCC and answer all questions about details and the children.

On this occasion, interviews were conducted with three applicants for an internship at the MCC, two of whom were present, with support from the two of them.

Afterward, based on past experiences, we discussed which general criteria should apply to internships in the future. Joseph contributed the MCC’s perspective, and the result is a new set of key points that provide more clarity for both sides.

In between and at the cold buffet, there was plenty of opportunity to exchange ideas, so that we are all up to date again.
