But our goal is even bigger: we want to make the Children Center and the Academy completely independent of the unreliable Kenyan power supply. <\/p>\n<p>Power outages are part of everyday life. Especially in rural regions, where the <strong>Maisha Mazuri Children Centre<\/strong> and the <strong>Academy<\/strong> <strong>of Maisha Mazuri<\/strong> are located, the power supply is unstable, expensive, and unreliable. But education, safety, and a healthy diet need reliable energy.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>What we need: high-performance lithium batteries<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our existing solar system already provides electricity \u2013 but <strong>without sufficient storage capacity<\/strong>, we can only use it during the day. For the continuous operation of the school, boarding house, computer room, bakery, and refrigerator, we need <strong>high-quality, long-lasting lithium batteries<\/strong> that make solar power available overnight and during bad weather. <\/p>\n<p>These batteries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>power <strong>light sources<\/strong> in classrooms and dormitories,<\/li>\n<li>keep <strong>computers and technology<\/strong> ready for lessons at all times,<\/li>\n<li>secure the operation of our <strong>own bakery<\/strong> and its expansion,<\/li>\n<li>enable a <strong>cold chain for food<\/strong> that supports healthy nutrition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>An investment in the future <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lithium batteries for solar systems are very expensive in Kenya as well. That is why we are currently applying for funding from foundations, which, however, always requires a 25% share of matching funds.
