A little sleepy but punctual, the first diligent helpers arrive in the pedestrian zone at 7:00 AM to set up our pavilion and sales booth, and beautifully display the bazaar goods and our raffle prizes.

The festival begins at 10:00 AM. As the day progresses, more and more interested passersby gather around our stand. They admire the beautiful African bazaar items that our interns purchase at the Maasai Market in Nairobi, and one item or another finds its way from our table into customers’ bags. Flyers and information about our association are read and taken, questions about the project are answered, and a few extra euros find their way into the donation box.

As every year, we are fortunate to have our young raffle ticket sellers, Timo and Yannick. With charm and wit, they convince visitors to buy tickets, generating additional income. Even if some don’t win, they move on with satisfied, happy faces, knowing it was for a good cause.

The atmosphere is excellent, with music and drummers heard from all sides. Everyone celebrates together, whether Africans, Germans, or people from other countries. Traditional dishes from Kenya and other countries are served and sell out quickly.

And most importantly, the weather was fantastic! All the helpers in and around our stand are fully engaged, once again happy to meet all their friends in such a wonderful setting, chat, exchange information, and enjoy a carefree day. And not only that, at the end of the day, €1,800 is in the till, which can be transferred 1:1 to Kenya, as increased school fees and high hospital and medication costs have significantly strained our budget.

Conclusion: No sooner is the 2023 Africa Festival over than we’re already looking forward to the 2024 Africa Festival, and perhaps we’ll even see some new patrons for our association. Many thanks, Asante Sana to everyone!

Until the 2024 Africa Festival

<img decoding="async" class="" alignnone="" size-medium="" wp-image-6325="" src=""https://4kenya.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/IMG-20230624-WA0008-300x138.jpg"" alt="4kenya" width=""300"" height=""138"" title="Africa Festival in Ingolstadt – A Huge Success!"> <img decoding="async" class="" alignnone="" size-medium="" wp-image-6326="" src=""https://4kenya.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/IMG-20230627-WA0010-300x230.jpg"" alt="4kenya" width=""300"" height=""230"" title="Africa Festival in Ingolstadt – A Huge Success!"> <img decoding="async" class="" alignnone="" size-medium="" wp-image-6327="" src=""https://4kenya.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/IMG-20230627-WA0011-225x300.jpg"" alt="4kenya" width=""225"" height=""300"" title="Africa Festival in Ingolstadt – A Huge Success!">

Every June, the African flair draws us to the Africa Festival in Ingolstadt.
